Dear Friends,
Yesterday's Solstice, and the uncertainties that often surround holidays, reminds us that change and new things constantly emerge. Tapping into awe, even when uncertainties may be swirling around, lifts the heart.
Awe is a present-moment experience, a real moment. Not a memory or thought of a past or future moment. I tap into awe a lot with nature, as do many others.
Last week before a meeting, a woman shared a deep awe moment she'd had at BOI in early December. She was sitting in circle in the Lodge living room during a training. In the midst of the group talk, people gasped with joy and awe. They were facing the Lodge's expansive cathedral window which looked onto trees and woods. To their wonder, two energetic red birds were flapping and peering inside. The red birds started tapping on the huge window, wanting to come inside. For many, red birds signify angels are nearby, a departed loved one is visiting. It was a shared group awe experience.
I wish for you some pauses of awe, rest, and connection this holiday season.
I'm happy to share that last week the damages from Hurricane Helene to the BOI campus were fixed. Roof, ceiling and window repairs happened at the Lodge, Boathouse, and Pavilion.
Remediations and painting were thorough, making buildings better than before.
The Ivy River and glade area are being tended to now by their steward and owner Walker Silsbee. Walker and her husband Doug were the former owners/ stewards of Bend of Ivy. Friends and family helped with the river cleanup. A labor of Love.
I shared recently some of my Helene storm experiences in a couple of my blogs on my Intentional Growth site.
These blog shares are below in our newsletter.
Our WNC area is experiencing rebirthing in many ways. People and communities are connecting. Many are searching for and finding healing in new ways.
What we learn, we can share with other communities and places.
At Bend of Ivy, I've been moved by how people are savoring our monthly winter Community Healing events. Last Sunday we offered a healing Gentle Yoga class and Sound Bath. Next Community Event may be February 16.
As Mahatma Gandhi said
'Be the change you wish to see in the world'.
With gratitude,

Communities Renewal
Our Asheville and WNC communities are deeply grateful for the support of those near and far. These beautiful areas are in the process of rebuilding and re-birthing. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help, we’ve created a resource list of local businesses and relief organizations dedicated to restoration efforts.
